A Celebration of the Queen’s Life

community vision woodvale social club event

On the 8th of September 2022, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, died at the age of 96 years old. For many of our customers, she has been a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength over the more than 70 years that she held the title of Queen. With 1 in 10 people currently living in Perth having originated from the UK and an even more significant percentage of our customers at Woodvale, we commemorated her life by organising a celebration of the extraordinary life of this woman who meant so much, to so many.

We decided to celebrate in true British fashion with a delicious morning tea. Our customers and their families joined us to enjoy a tea of scones with cream and jam and other delectable treats. Tea by the pot was also on hand for everyone who joined us. It was so lovely to have some family members join us too, expanding our community and allowing new people to get to know each other.

We continued our British theme into lunch, where our customers enjoyed a meal of pies with mushy peas and chips, topped off with a yummy bread and butter pudding.

To close out our day of remembrance and celebration, our customers enjoyed a royal quiz to test everyone’s general knowledge. Our customers absolutely loved going down memory lane with the questions and showing off their excellent quiz skills.

Overall, a wonderful day was had by our customers and their families alike.
